The Balkans, also called Balkan Peninsula… a region that´s not defined clearly by geography, politics or historical terms but rather by culture and more than everything, a feeling. We could go on and on about statistics, numbers and papers or we could try and explain the feeling and concept of a ¨balkan¨ Greek, slovenian, croatian, serbian, montenegran, macedonian, albenian, bulagrian, romanian or even turkish.
Known mostly as a state of spirit and being shown mostly through colorful music and extravagant cusinie, the Balkans have a “special something”.
In our case, in The Balk our special something is exactly what´s missing in in most Street-food: an authentic touch in the service and most importantly in the food that we so proudly produce.
After a research on the market, we´ve discovered that there´s very few places that offers this type of food; sure, you can find a good shawarma, you can find an awesome tzatziki salad or even a balkava, but you can rarely find a place that sells Balkan food as a full concept.
We bring the color of balkan cuisine, old-forgotten yet amazing ingredients, our mother´s and grandmothers´s récipes and our respect and love we put in each and every single dish.
Looking at the economical and political climate in England and around the world in 2017, we truly believe that diversity is needed now more than ever. With love and dedication to our culture, love and respect towards the culture we live in now, we want to show the world that unity and diversión is not only “another option” but rather a necesarry commodity of the world we live in today.
Sure, we sell food, but its much more than that. We sell an identity, we sell culture and awareness of almost 53 million people expanded all over the South-East of Europe and with migration, all over the world.
We want to share the love, the food, the crazy spices, colors and flavours with the world and Street-food is a great start! Let us be part of your market and we promise not only to deliver good food, but new flavors, a different approach to the the food that our grandmothers so kindly enrichened our childhoods and our bellies with.
